Locals know Mount Vernon for its historical significance as much as for its natural beauty. But it also hosts one of the best wine festivals in the region. The annual Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour, slated for the weekend of October 11, is the most popular annual event at the vaunted Washington estate. Celebrating both the past and present of winemaking in Virginia, the festival includes live music, tours of the mansion and cellar, and special educational session on the history of winemaking on Mount Vernon. And, of course, you’ll also be able to enjoy unlimited samples from other twenty local wineries.
Tickets are $48 for Friday, $52 for Saturday, and $42 for Sunday. Fruit and cheese boxes are available via advance purchase, and hot meals will be served at additional cost by the on-site Mount Vernon Inn. No outside food or drink permitted. Bring a picnic blanket, or go deluxe with a VIP table.
