Historic Beginnings

Back to the start

Encore, Encore

The Apollo Theatre opened its doors in 1913. Designed by architect C. Clark Jones in a Renaissance Revival style of brick and stone, and beautiful mosaic inlaid with “Apollo” across the floor of the vestibule. In honor of our namesake, we’ve recreated that same look and feel as much as possible.

The cinema could host nearly 900 guests at capacity and drew crowds until its decline in 1955. It was once the best-known movie theater on H Street, a gathering place that brought people together.

Today, it has re-emerged as The Apollo DC — a new center for H Street, drawing people to its luxury apartments, collaborative co-working spaces, Whole Foods Market, and coffee-to-cocktails bar, The Wydown.

Setting The Stage

In 2009, a passionate group of people with decades of experience in the real estate industry set out to build a company for which success could be measured by more than just the numbers: Insight Property Group.

Committed to providing outstanding returns to their financial partners, they knew they also had opportunity to make a lasting positive contribution to their communities and neighborhoods.

Insight focuses on creating partnerships throughout the community, engaging in ongoing exploration about and with the people who will occupy the places we build, and delivering designs that will endure. We want our buildings to make our communities better for generations to come and expect to do right by the people and the communities with whom we partner.
